24.10.2016 Biocides are pesticides often found in everyday products but are also used in building materials. These substances conceal hazards to both humans and the environment. In the DGNB’s certification system, only permissible active ingredients in certain building products may be used. In the interior of residential buildings, even permissible biocidal products are completely prohibited.

10.10.2016 REACH is the European chemicals regulation concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. A point can be achieved in the LEED system by demonstrating that products meet REACH criteria.
EMICODE as evidence in DGNB and LEED systems
26.09.2016 The “EMICODE” identifies low-emission products. It has been used for several years in the DGNB system as proof of achievement of quality level 4 for certain products. The new LEED v4 system now accepts EMICODE under certain conditions as evidence in the certification system.

05.09.2016 The GISCODE groups products with comparable health hazards and their associated protective measures. Certain GISCODE classifications can be used as verification for the DGNB Criterion ENV 1.2 “Risks to the Local Environment” in order to achieve different quality levels.
The risks of flame retardants such as PBDE, PBB, TCEP and HBCD in construction
19.08.2016 Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), tris (2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) are widely used as flame retardants in products. In DGNB system, these substances are examined in order to avoid the negative effects on humans and the environment.
PEFC certificate applicable as evidence in the LEED system under the Pilot ACP – “Legal Wood”
03.08.2016 In the new “Pilot Alternative Compliance Path – Legal Wood” for the LEED system, other wood certificates can now also be used to achieve points, such as PEFC, SFI, ATFS and CSA. After the test phase, the USGBC will determine whether this alternative verification will be integrated into the LEED system in the future.
